About Us

Welcome! My name is Lou, owner of The Pickett Fence, a Creative Sewing Center located in Prairie du Chien, WI, a small midwest town on the Mississippi River.

Our 5,000 sq ft shop is home to 4000+ bolts of top-of-the-line fabrics, notions, tools, patterns, and bulk candies. Yes, you read that right, we have a Candy Shop within our Quilt Shop offering over 60 scrumptious varieties of bulk candies and specialty chocolates!! Really, what more could a gal ask for than fabric and chocolate all in one shop!

The Pickett Fence is also a certified Janome Sewing/Embroidery Machine Dealer. We always have 8-12 Janome models on display, so you can test sew a machine before you buy to make sure it is the right machine for you! All machines purchased come with a free machine operation class.

Along with my husband Ken, 6 amazing employees, and a best friend that is always ready to pitch in and help, we offer top-notch friendly customer service, teach quilting and sewing classes as well as offer Block of the Month programs and clubs.

The Pickett Fence is in a historical building with beautiful original tin ceilings in the Prairie du Chien downtown district. The Shop is well lit with room to move around and enjoy all the samples of quilts, wall hangings, table runners, bags, and totes that we have created for you to enjoy.
